After ten years in the Cannstatter Carr\u00e9, it was time for us to pack moving boxes, secure equipment, carry furniture \u2013 and start a new chapter. STL GmbH, a software company based in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt and developer of the hybrid training management and learning management software cimoio<\/em>, has moved to a new location: from Deckerstra\u00dfe 29 to a rented house in Daimlerstra\u00dfe 21. Only a few hundred meters as the crow flies \u2013 and yet a noticeable change.<\/p>\n

Why a new location?<\/h3>\n

The official reason is quickly summarized: our lease in the Carr\u00e9 expired, costs were rising, and several conditions simply no longer fit. At the same time, it was the right moment to make a change that gives us more freedom to shape our environment.<\/p>\n

Challenges we faced in the Carr\u00e9 \u2013 such as loudspeaker tests during customer calls or unpredictable maintenance work in the building \u2013 are now a thing of the past. Instead, we have moved into a three-story residential building that we now maintain as tenants but can also shape according to our own needs.<\/p>\n

More independence, more identity<\/h3>\n

At our new location, we can express what matters to us much more clearly:<\/p>\n

\u2013 Independence, which is deeply rooted in our company philosophy
\u2013 Team closeness, which supports our daily work on cimoio<\/em> \u2013 our software for training management, training organization, and qualification management
\u2013 Personal design choices that were limited in the old office<\/p>\n

Working across three floors will take some getting used to after years on a single hallway. But the greater variety of rooms also opens up new possibilities.<\/p>\n

This, in turn, supports our shift from the model \u201cevery customer project has one contact person\u201d to truly cross-functional project units \u2013 an important step in the further development of our training management and learning management software.<\/p>\n

The move itself: an open-heart procedure<\/h3>\n

Relocating during ongoing operations is always a balancing act \u2013 especially for a software company that continues to develop a hybrid training management and learning management system. Alongside the physical move, we carried out hosting migrations for several customers, transferred internal systems, and coordinated structural changes in the new building.<\/p>\n

At the same time, we used the move to implement several technical improvements.<\/p>\n

This includes, among other things, a more flexible assignment of employees within the internal network. This will make it significantly easier in the future to switch workplaces or reorganize rooms without technical dependencies getting in the way. The relocation therefore offers an opportunity not only for spatial change but also for a more modern and agile technical setup.<\/p>\n

There was one small frustration: our phone system could not be activated in time due to an address mix-up. For existing customers this was manageable, but for new prospects it was less than ideal. Fortunately, our digital infrastructure is stable enough that we could bridge this period smoothly.<\/p>\n

Atmosphere: from shopping center to residential neighborhood<\/h3>\n

Our new location is situated in a quiet residential area. The difference is striking:<\/p>\n

What we\u2019re leaving behind:<\/strong>
\u2013 spontaneous errands
\u2013 instant lunch options
\u2013 office supplies \u201cjust around the corner\u201d<\/p>\n

What we\u2019re gaining:<\/strong>
\u2013 peace and quiet
\u2013 no distracting announcements
\u2013 a pleasantly private atmosphere
\u2013 a garden for team events<\/p>\n

Overall: an environment that helps us work more grounded, focused, and personally \u2013 and supports the ongoing development of cimoio<\/em> in a calm, concentrated setting.<\/p>\n

Looking back \u2013 and ahead<\/h3>\n

STL GmbH has now moved for the fourth time since its founding in 2003.<\/a><\/p>\n

From our new office, those who have been with us for a long time can even see the location we rented before moving into the Carr\u00e9. For some, it\u2019s nostalgic \u2013 for others, the move is exciting because something new is beginning once again.<\/p>\n

One detail has stayed with us: after our 2015 move, we soon experienced an unpleasant water damage incident. This time, we\u2019re hoping for a dry, structured, and positive start. And the first impression is promising.<\/p>\n

What the new location means for us<\/h3>\n

Our new location is meant to be a place that strengthens us.
A place where we work together, exchange ideas, react faster, and express our individuality.
A place that reflects our identity as a provider of training management and learning management software.<\/p>\n
